With suppliers
TiR will learn about areas of the supply chain in Wales; absorb some of the food surplus generated and communicate the value of this surplus by holding public food waste feasts.
With Communities
TiR will work with local organisations and volunteers; monitor public opinion and attitudes to food waste; create participatory events in a selection of towns, cities and festivals; host workshops, debates, inclusive games and cooking demonstrations; and collect local food waste recipes, stories and experiences.
With the Arts
TiR will incorporate local artists, musicians, storytellers and stimulate creative interpretations of food waste issues. Create tangible and playful experiences whilst challenging narratives and preconceptions of waste, inspiring active participation, creative learning and engagement with a serious issue in a fun and inclusive way.
Within Policy
TiR will engage with policy experts; conduct policy research; motivate the uptake of TiR policy asks; and inspire political responsibility and participation.
Through Online networks
TiR will maintain an online presence; document the tour for those who cannot join us; encourage knowledge sharing through our social networks; and maintain a media presence.
‘Feast’ will deliver the positive and practical message that food waste is preventable, and emphasise the part we can all play to curb unnecessary waste.

Policy Asks
WRAP’s Love Food Hate Waste campaign, successfully aim to tackle food waste in the home. TiR however, concentrate on the 60% of food waste that occurs before it reaches consumers, within the supply chain itself. To tackle this, TiR has two main policy asks:
1. For all areas of the food sector to be obliged to report on the food waste they generate in their activities, with annual reports audited and publicised by an independent commission.
2. For the government to introduce an obligation upon the food sector to reduce
food waste.
Wider Campaign Aims
– A reduction in food waste, through the uptake of our policy asks.
– Public awareness of the associated solutions and issues, such as food security, depleting resources, and a reinforcing the non-monetary ‘value’ of food.
– A more efficient and resilient supply chain that practices ‘cradle to cradle’ systems and environmental sustainability.
– The avoidable waste wiped out of the food industry supply chain and the home.
– A reduction in the green house gas emissions associated with waste.
– A realisation of the value of positive, interactive and playful communication to effect behavioural change
‘This is Rubbish are leading an incisive and energetic campaign to raise awareness and lessen the problem – one of their main tactics is both enjoyable and participatory: feasting… coupled with an innovative celebration of the rejected food’
-David Hawkins, The Ecologist
