Reframing Food Waste
We recently launched a new project aimed at changing the way we see food waste. We’ve been concerned for a while that the narratives about food waste focus too much on individual households and the waste they produce and that food waste is seen as a problem separate from other structural issues like the inequalities created by our economy or the way that the planet is brutalised as a resource.
That is why we’ve launched the reframing project. Through films, workshops, public events and more we’re looking to shift the focus of food waste – to talk about the historic, economic inequalities that create and perpetuate it, how money, power, and privilege continue to shape the distribution of food, and why tackling food waste also requires us to rethink the way our economy works.
