Armed with home-made info signs, a makeshift shelter and temperamental bike blender a group of waste haters from Machynlleth, served up sumptuous fruit smoothies from fruit destined for the waste pile of a London wholesalers.

Here as part of the environmental demonstrations at Blackheath Climate Camp, we met Tristram Stuart, the newly found author of WASTE, spurring the future collaboration of Feeding the 5000.

Without a name or identity, and a high profile event in sight, the group of activists, artists and researchers quickly created what is today ‘This is Rubbish’: The campaign was born.
