“Feast” at Machynlleth Market

On Wednesday 10th November TiR will host a banquet on Machynlleth Market, where you can literally ‘feast’ on the surrounding issues of food waste.

The idea of a feast is to celebrate abundance. This is Rubbish celebrate an abundance that’s been declared useless. Food is our most immediate and direct link with the earth. This is Rubbish invite people to explore all manner of connected issues through the act of feasting’. -This is Rubbish campaigner

In order to continue their work that currently relies solely on volunteers, This is Rubbish applied for a Welsh People’s Millions grant. They have made it through to the final round due to be screened after ITV Wales Tonight on Monday 22nd November, where it will be down to the public to phone in and vote for This is Rubbish, and enable them to continue communicating the shocking scale of food waste and related environmental impacts through communal feasting, participatory arts and community engagement across Wales.

Come along this Wednesday where This is Rubbish are hosting a food waste Feast in their home town Machynlleth. Held in the heart of the famous Machynlleth Market from 12 – 2pm, the group will create a festive feasting space entertained by live musicians, dancing hosts, and expert speakers, so that you may gain a taste of what they are all about. Feast welcomes all members of the community to participate – if you have your own delicious leftover recipe or surplus food, be sure to bring it along to share!
